Christina Aguilera has admitted that’s she’s a control freak. ‘I was raised in a very chaotic environment,’ she explains.
‘We were always moving from one place to another, my father being in the military, and you know, my mother leaving my father, going back and forth. ‘Nothing was ever quite stable or secure for me. So that might definitely have something to do with liking things done in order, in control and my way.
‘I’m a huge organisation freak. Everything is labelled and specified and there’s a place for it.’ Christina, 27, reckons music helped her to deal with her disjointed childhood.
‘As a very young girl there was a lot of domestic violence in the home,’ she tells The Observer Magazine. ‘So I think I just gravitated towards music as an escape.’
Christina is now happlly married to Jordan Bratman, 31, and is mum to 11-month-old son Max Liron.
Lady GaGa says she’s thankful Christina Aguilera “copied” her look because it gave her publicity.
The singer, who is thought to be the inspiration behind Christina’s new ‘futuristic’ image, says she wouldn’t be as well known if it wasn’t for the star’s style choices.
She says:
“Well, it was very flattering when it happened.
“She’s such a huge star and if anything I should send her flowers, because a lot of people in America didn’t know who I was until that whole thing happened. It really put me on the map in a way.”
But Christina said she had never heard of Lady GaGa when the concept for her look was created.
She said: “This person was just brought to my attention not too long ago. I’m not quite sure who this person is, to be honest.”
But Lady GaGa says there are “no hard feelings at all” with Christina and added that she’s just excited that fans recognised her style.
She told Digital Spy: “Even though I’ve only been on the commercial market for seven or eight months, I’ve really burned graphic images of my visuals onto the irises of my fans.
“They saw a huge, Grammy-winning star who’s been around for years and they recognised Lady GaGa. That to me is quite an accomplishment.”
Sounds: The sights do the aesthetic talking in The Spirit - not the sounds. This might explain why I didn’t notice any music in the film until the song that played during the credits. Called “Falling In Love Again,” it has sexy synths, tempting female vocals and a great melody. It is sung by Christina Aguilera, and it is the film’s only redeeming moment.
NEW York-based singer-songwriter Lady Gaga may have just broken into the mainstream this year, but she has already had brushes with notoriety.
The singer - whose real name is Stefani Germanotta and who seems to style herself after characters from 1980s cartoon Jem - was given a police warning for indecent exposure last year.
She had been walking around the grounds of a festival clad in skimpy hot shorts and a bra.
“This is me,” she says now of the incident. “I’m a lady all the time, but I do love my fashion and I’m very theatrical about it.”
The 22-year-old with a shock of platinum-blonde hair also draws comparisons to pop diva Christina Aguilera. Last month, Aguilera was even asked if she had stolen Germanotta’s style. Read more »
